STATUS:COMPETITION ENTRY,2012
the primary intervention in Suzhou creek in shanghai city is to give an architectural solution by means of fusing multiple uses in a single entity & give a visual & spatial experience to the city users so that they become more aware of the creek itself. they travel to the hearth of the creek & thus become reminded of the existence of the creek.
The concrete hollow iceberg like structure which is mostly submersed for navigational ease is a kind of small island which rests in the middle of the creek that not only works as a multi use connection between both the sides of the creek but also has a water filtration system that filters the creek water.
The intervention is a kind of submersible activity & exchange platform in the hollow of the creek which can be either grounded permanently or moored .it has a open deck for public activity while the lower part works as a public exchange node. the hollow base houses the water purification & supply system with sewerage collected from the structure within & is treated & then sent for disposal. the creek water is filtered & sent back. in this way actually it is a kind of filtering & supply pod submersed in the creek to keep its water clean. the intervention will make the creek a connection for pedestrians from both the sides & will work as a recreational space & space of small commerce. in this process shanghai city can get a a place for public exchange that would reinforce public sentiment but also physically enhance the context ,quality & ambiance of Suzhou creek
