The project is an intervention to enhance human & other activity that the fresh kills park lacks & to somehow transform this activity into a source of power generation in a form of landscape art when solar, wind or hydro power can not be capitalized as a dominant environmental or geographical feature of the particular site.

In this way not only the environmental stigma would be removed but also would further enhance public activity round the clock that would give simultaneously a feedback into a power generation source.

The primary concept is to use human & other activity (vehicular traffic etc.) to generate hydro power (by least disturbing the context & its limitations specially by keeping the protective membrane just below surface intact) in the form of a multistage water tower array.

The towers gain static energy based on Pascal’s method of lifting a heavy piston of large cross section by means of a smaller pumps, which in this case is a flexible array of small pressure pumps on the ground that get activated by foot pressure or vehicles passing over.

A chain reaction like arrangement gradually lifts heavier pistons to higher points from where they fall down either to pump back into the next water tower or to finally drive impellers connected to alternators to produce energy as the water column’s static energy is converted on its emptying process. This would be a continuous closed cyclic loop as long as human or vehicular movement takes place over the pressure pump array.

The water feeds back into the pump array again after completing a full cycle.

The whole system is mainly a lay-on type arrangement & the glass tubes would be on shallow footings depending upon the site conditions.

The water towers can be filled with water based dye so that a colorful display of water towers can be a kind of optical device that would bath the park with color, light & spectacle.
