MASTER PLAN-health complex -1
the health complex is to offer an architecturally responsive environment as well as an assurance to congeniality, emancipation & well being. It is to form altogether a novel perception of health care making our cities ,communities & built forms altogether a responsive & vibrant continuum.
The volumetric articulation, open spaces and creation of spatial experiences is all part of an integrated effort conceived as a whole keeping in mind the assimilative nature of Grameen . the development of master planning was done in a comprehensive manner having a holistic approach to healthcare & supporting institutions.
the program was conceived as a rational approach to spaces ,events taking place & various movements as pedestrian/vehicular congruous to architectural norms, planning techniques & healthcare understandings.
it is rather an introvert type planning where the surrounding residential zones are respected.
Various master planning options were studied & the final version accommodates broad spectrum of parameters ranging from the internal planning to relating the whole project to its immediate context, circulation and altogether volumetric organization of built form. Built forms are composed accordingly so that elongation along n/s axis is avoided for direct solar heat gain. Screens & perforated walls would be used to reduce glare & airborne noise as required. moreover built forms are to self-shade interior spaces as well.
The hospital part holds the outpatient and consultancy to the front while screening the inpatient & giving serenity to it . between the blocks inserted is the vital connection between the two blocks & the central atrium space serves as a concession to spatiality. A podium top terrace is to create a buffer between inpatient & outpatient also. The dorm of GCCN is located in a rather secluded nature while the institute itself works as a gateway to the whole complex.
Features-
– Phase- construction is considered & basement blocks can be connected later.
– spaces are controlled & segregated by water bodies. water also is synonymous to life, vitality & emancipation .
Teaching hospital is connected by service vestibules with medical college , as a result students can laterally connect to the hospital function which also minimizes service blocks & enhances hospital-institute relationship.
The visitor would be oriented to the central axis and make their journey to the hospital beneath the nursing institute feeling invited & assured of .
emergency services are well separated & easily accessed while mortuary services are also located strategically .
GCCN.
The nursing institute is anticipated as a protagonist to the whole health care complex. the notion of nursing serves not only the health complex but also works as an inviting approach to it. The nursing institute works also as an aperture to the whole complex as well. students/nurses start their journey taking a ramp that encloses an internal court as it evokes an interface for both the immediate context & the building itself -a positive teaching environment would usher a vibrant and inspiring ambiance. The diagonal ramp system architecturally frames not just vertical circulation but also a visually interactive interface with the street and community beyond that is ought to promote the perception of health care in our country. By zoning the program strategically , both functional and visual connectivity is articulated for maximum efficiency .
splitting from the main form GCCN plays a major frontal character of the complex – ready for phased construction. The dormitory has either solid walls or service blocks on e/w sides to protect from solar heat gain. A parasol roof also would help to reduce heat.
in some dorm blocks small units are removed to assist airflow to rooms behind. A pressurized air flow system may be introduced to take the stale air and residual heat from rooms.
